Chuck and his wife worked with the Storyteller all around the world from 1986 until 2024. Chuck is a man who didn’t need or want to be acknowledged. So, for the moment, we aren’t posting an official biography. However, I think the following story of how he started channelling is important. It’s something he never imagined or wanted to do. If you listen to the classes, you will rarely hear Chuck speak, so we thought you’d appreciate seeing that Chuck is a character all by himself. He also gives us some insight into the teachings and how to listen.
Chuck’s story about how it all started
In Chuck’s words, here is how he got started channeling. He tells this story occasionally before the class begins. You can listen to the audio version or read the transcription below. Chuck says that he told the story so often that it got boring: “So certain elements of the story have been edited for humor.”
Okay. I was an engineer by trade and training. When this started, I had a lower lumbar strain. I was the director of engineering at this company. And my back would go out. It actually started lifting my kid — my grandchild — out of the swimming pool, and he hung his foot up on something, and when I pulled my back went bad. So, off and on, off and on, trying to get rid of this thing, and couldn’t do it. And it was about a year that I had this, six months to a year that I was going in and out of, you know, the pain and crawling around the floor. And my wife said, “This has got to stop.”
And I agree, “This has got to stop.” But I didn’t know how it was going to stop.
She said, Well, let’s [try].”
I’ve gone to doctors, and they wanted to fuse my spine. Not going to happen! I went to the doctors, and they wanted me on drugs. OxyContin. Not going to happen. You know? And so I ended up, she suggested going for something called rebirthing. And this is a method of hyper-oxygenating yourself so that you don’t think straight, and any pains or any past life elements come forward, and supposedly it’s going to fix it. Well, it’ll all sounded hokey to me, but I went, “Okay. Happy life, happy wife.”
So I get in the car with her. Now, on the way over for an appointment with this woman that does the rebirthing, she mentions to me that the husband does a deep therapeutic massage in the hot tub. So I said, “Well, let’s try that. I’m an engineer. I can taste it, I can touch it, I can feel it, I can see it — that’s real. This other stuff, yeaahhhh… it’s all mental, you know?”
So I get over there and cancel the appointment with her, pick up the appointment with him. He happens to be doing nothing, which was basically his normal state. [Laughter.] Any case, I get in the hot tub with him, and I describe where it is, where the pain is, and he goes, “Okay, let’s see what we can do with it.” Puts my head back here. [Demonstrating.] And he starts pushing. And he hit a nerve. And when he hit the nerve, it was so painful, I shut it down. When I did, I lost consciousness, and I have no idea what happened. But then, when I came to, I just— it was just a blank. And I came to, and I’m sitting on the side of the hot tub like this. And I just go, “How did I get here?” And he’s as white as a sheet?
He said, “Well, I thought I drowned you.”
And I kind of understand why he’s as white as a sheet if he thought he drowned me.
He goes, “No, no, something came through you.”
And I go, “Well, thank you very much. My back is just fine.” You know? So I get out of the tub and I say, “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
He says, “I didn’t do anything.” He says, “I thought I drowned you.” He says, “Something came through.” And he keeps repeating this, “Something came through you,” as if I knew what that meant. And so I look in the hot tub and didn’t see any mess there. So I figured, “Nope, that didn’t go through me.”
Audience: [Laughter.] No Almond Joy?
Chuck: Yeah, no Almond Joy.
Audience: I never heard that part of the story. [More laughter.]
Chuck: So, then he describes what happens to me? You know what happened is some entity came over and took over. Now, I had college psychology 101, and I know that one of the primary things of “You’ve got a severe problem, and you’re probably aimed at a rubber room,” is a fugue state. You lose consciousness, you don’t know what’s going on — you’re in trouble. And I’m thinking, “Oh, crap. What happened?” You know, something broke, you know?
So I get in the car. I can’t argue with the fact that my back is fine, and my wife goes, “How’s your back?”
And I go, “My back’s just fine.” And I don’t tell her anything about this “something came through me.” I just go home.
And about two, almost… yeah, I think it was two and a half days later, he calls me up and says, “Listen, I’d like to try something. You’re a scientific kind of guy. Repeatability is all-important.”
And I go, “Yeah, you can’t argue with that.”
He says, “I want to try it again.” He says, “Do you think you can do whatever it is you did and get the entity to come back in if possible?”
And I go, “Well, I am a scientific guy.” And if I go over there and I do the same thing I did, and it doesn’t come in, I’m pretty much safe to handle $3 million and, you know, 45-people budget, you know. [Chuck is referring to going back to his job as director of engineering.] So I go back over, and he’s got the hot tub all set up. And he’s got a boom box hanging from a kite string in a tree, right over the thing, plugged into the mains.
It’s a good thing I’m an engineer, because I analyzed the situation immediately and said, Well, it’s no physical danger to me if it does drop in the tub. And if it breaks, it goes in there. It’s going to take the shortest route to the ground. I just won’t touch anything metal. “I’m okay. Maybe I’ll get a tingle.”
So I get in the tub with the guy. And I knew what I had done, because I used to hurt myself a lot when I was a kid. Run into the back of cars and, you know, stuff like that. I was always breaking a bone, so I knew how to shut pain down and put it in its place so it just doesn’t bother you.
And that’s what I did. And when I did it, I lost consciousness, and when I came back, I was on the side of the tub again. Well, the back is still good. You know, everything was fine. He had recorded 45 minutes of conversation between him and the entity. And to me, it was just a blink. There was no time loss as far as I knew. I wasn’t there. Didn’t hear a thing. Don’t know anything. So he’s got this tape. And I said, “Let’s listen to it.”
And he said, “Well, I can’t do that right now. I have to take the tape out to the desert and give it to somebody.”
I go, “Well, who do you have to give it to?”
He says, “I don’t know.”
Audience: [Disbelief.]
And I said, “You don’t know. You’re gonna go out in the desert. You’re gonna take this tape, and you’re gonna go out in the desert. What’s up with that?”
So he says, “But I won’t go today. How about tomorrow, we all get together and listen to the tape?”
So we got together. We listened to the tape, and I was absolutely blown away. And he goes, “Now, I’m going to leave for the desert with the tape.” And he goes to the desert, he comes back, and he calls me up. He says, “Hey, I delivered the tape.”
I said, “Where did you go?”
He said, “Well, I just went out to the Institute of Metaphysics, just as my first shot. And I drove around, and I drove up to this house. And this lady comes out of the house, and she walked out to the car, and she says, ‘I’ve been waiting for you.’ She puts her hand out. He gives her the tape.
Audience: Who?
Anne-Marie, you know? He gives her the tape. And he drives off.
Audience: [Laughter.]
Well, he no sooner got back than we get a phone call. Anne-Marie wants to see us up at the Calabasas place. She wants to get introduced to the entity. Say, “Oh, okay, whatever this is about. I know I have to figure out what this is, and at this stage, any kind of investigation is a good thing.” So I go up there, and for the next six months, Anne-Marie coaches me on what, you know, what entities are, and what channeling is. And we figure out that through, you know— She has a lot of psychiatrist friends, and she has a lot of doctor friends, and she has a lot of connections in the spiritual world. So I got a good education on channeling, and basically figured out that as long as this thing doesn’t take over without me allowing it, as long as this thing doesn’t start telling people what to do, like, “Kill the rabbit.” You know? [Laughter.] As long as it doesn’t run my life without me having any say so, it probably is just something that’s a natural occurrence. People do this. You know. And it’s like, “What?” Yeah, shamans do it all the time, you know? And artists do it [channel their creativity], and people do it to different degrees all the time. So it’s not crazy, and if it is, it’s a divine form of insanity.
And so we explored it, and we explored it, and finally we let it out and let other people explore. And that’s where we’re at now, still letting it out, and letting other people explore it.
Questions?
Audience: I want to know what was on that tape.
Well, I do too. That tape has been— It’s in a box somewhere. I don’t know. I have no idea where the tape is, but it had very interesting information on it.
Audience: So, was it about you?
Not about me at all. Not even one word about me, except why him? And basically, from the very beginning, it’s, “He was the next guy on the list.” None of this— Nothing special. Nothing, you know, elevated. No, you know, “He’s my chosen one.” None of that. I’m just the next guy on the list. And if I hadn’t been there, if I’d have gotten killed as a kid or done some other thing, it would have been another guy on the list, or a woman on the list. Who knows?
So, anyways, it’s a teaching. And apparently, the entity comes in about every 150 years and checks in with humanity. Does humanity need the teaching? Are we on the verge of killing ourselves, and do we need a little help? And this particular time is special inasmuch as the very fabric that makes reality, our physical three-dimensional reality, has shifted this time around. So it’s at a core value for every cell in our body is different than it was. [The Storyteller calls this period of time “The Transition.”]
Okay. Anyways, I’m out of here. I think. Have a good time.
Audience: Thank you, Chuck.
Editor’s note: Chuck often says something similar to, “I’m outta here,” before he begins channeling. In another class, he explains, “I go through a ritual where I’m taking everything in my mind, everything that bothers me, and I basically set it on a shelf so I can get back to it later, if necessary. And somewhere along the line, I lose consciousness. And somewhere along the line, he comes in. And, I only use “he” because I’m a “he.”
