The Guidelines. Why are they important?
This teaching is a discussion on a universal system of guidelines that govern creation, disturbance, and balance in the cosmos. At its core, it teaches that any action diminishing creative potential—whether deliberate or accidental—causes a “great disturbance” throughout existence. Using the example of taking a life for reasons other than sustenance, the Storyteller explains that even an unintentional act, like stepping on an ant, disrupts creation’s natural flow. Disturbance, therefore, is not about moral guilt but about the energetic consequences of actions that restrict growth or harmony.
Participants explore the idea that disturbance manifests whenever one acts out of selfishness, dominance, or insensitivity. Overindulgence, gossip, and even minor acts of unkindness amplify chaos within individuals and communities. The recurring maxim—“In all things, act as if you would have others react to you”—anchors the teaching, framing moral harmony as both a personal and cosmic responsibility.
The speaker closes by emphasizing that neutrality is not the answer; meaningful participation through patience, empathy, and careful listening helps restore balance. Life’s inherent inequities and global chaos can’t be avoided, but through awareness and deliberate harmony, one can reduce the disturbances that ripple through the interconnected web of creation.
